Hardship & VAWA & Asylum Immigration Evaluation Services

At Nedra Cannon and Associates, independently licensed clinicians are able to provide in- depth psychological assessments and reports used to determine whether individuals will be able to remain lawfully in the United States. The assessment will ask questions about the client, and issues specific to the client's immigration case. It may also be necessary to speak with others familiar with the client's case to provide additional relevant information. Various assessment tools will be used during the course of the assessment. All evaluation sessions are confidential. Individuals are advised to already have legal representation in place, prior to scheduling evaluation.

What type of Evaluations are provided?

We conduct the following types of evaluations:

    1. Extreme Hardship Cases
    2. Spousal Abuse (VAWA) Cases
    3. Political Asylum Cases

    Other important info:

It is important to note, that while a psychological evaluation can greatly strengthen the case of a client, the therapist/ evaluator makes no guarantees regarding the outcome of the case. It is typical that these evaluations can be very important for the immigration process though. The report can vary from 10-20+ pages depending on the case circumstances and can address very import questions for the client's specific case. The typical timeframe for a completed evaluation and report can be between 7-14 days, depending on need. Expedited services are available for an additional cost.

Sessions are available in English. All others will require an interpreter provided by the client.

    Fees & Policies:

In-depth Psychosocial Evaluations: base fee $900

2-4 hours in client session, possibly over 2 sessions depending on need

    • gathering of collateral information from outside sources
    • personal detailed interview

    Payment Plans

If your evaluations need to be expedited, there is an additional $200 required in addition to the base fee. An active and current credit card is required on file. Due to the short-term nature of the evaluation, the full payment ($900) is due at the time of service. If a payment plan is needed, $450 is due to hold the appointment. The other half ($450) is due at the time of the appointment.

Credit cards will not be charged without permission and appropriate documentation/consent forms will be required in order to secure your appointment. Due to the time and resources it takes to complete these evaluations, there are no refunds.

    Cancellation & Late Arrival

There is a 48-hour cancellation policy in effect for Immigration Evaluations.  If the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48-hours’ notice, you will be subject to a $150 fee. If you do not show up and do not call (no call/ no show) for your appointment, you will be charged $250. If you arrive 15 mins or more late, we will need to reschedule your appointment and you will be subject to a $150 late cancellation fee, because we will not be able to complete the full session.

In all cases, the card on file will be charged. Your appointment is just for you and they are not always able to be filled with short notice.

What is the interview process like?

The evaluation typically lasts two to four hours and involves an in-depth clinical interview and psychological testing.  Due to covid-19, all appointments are currently online (via videoconference.)

After scheduling an appointment, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the online appointment.  This is a one-time meeting (follow-up sessions are not typically needed.)
